Medical Complex Cuts Greenhouse Emissions And Energy Costs
Green Office Park Features Largest Combined Solar Array in Central Florida
(Ormond Beach, FL) April 8, 2009 - Entero Energy, Central Florida's fastest growing provider of renewable energy systems announces the completion of one of the largest combined solar electric installations in Central Florida. Three solar arrays are part of Millennium Medical Park, a new 20,000 square foot medical facility in Ormond Beach, Florida. The total 55 kilowatts of solar power will prevent approximately 200,000 pounds of global warming CO2 emission annually.
"Commercial and residential construction in Volusia County, Florida is taking a turn to sustainability with more focus on energy efficiency and renewable energy systems with the sturdiness to withstand hurricanes," said Eric Crisler, General Manager of Entero Energy. "This project represents one of the largest private solar power efforts in the entire state of Florida and represents how regular citizens can make a large impact on helping our environment. Federal stimulus package incentives make the payback on some systems in the three to seven year range, thus making going solar even more attractive."
The solar systems equipment is a unique building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) technology that minimizes hurricane damage concerns. The solar photovoltaic system designed by Entero Energy is one of numerous green building features incorporated into this state-of-the-art facility. The building also features a high-performance envelope including the roof, walls, and windows; high sear air conditioning units; foam insulation; low flow toilets; and many other green elements.
"Millennium Medical Park has been a strong proponent of energy efficient building technologies," said Dr. Mark Rubin, an Ormond Beach, FL ophthalmologist and Partner in Millennium Medical Park. "We're committed to promoting [the] best practices and educating our community on strategies that reduce energy costs and decrease the environmental impact of commercial buildings," said Dr. Mike Kohen, an Ormond Beach, FL asthma, allergy, arthritis, and lung specialist and Partner in Millennium Medical Park.
Millennium Medical Park employed Commercial Construction Incorporated (CCI) of Daytona Beach, FL as the general contractor. CCI hired Entero Energy to assist with design, procurement, and execution of the solar systems.
"We are committed to furthering green building solutions by working with companies like Entero," said Gary Roberts, President of CCI.
